A walk from Russell Square Station to Gordon Square Gardens, featuring eight pioneering figures connected with Bloomsbury.

Bloomsbury is a fairly small area, yet it boasts a wealth of distinguished figures. This walk features eight of them, with pioneering achievements in fields as varied as medicine, economics and literature. You will hear, for instance, about an exhibition which radically altered British tastes in art, the first British woman to qualify as a Master of Surgery, the first female wireless operator in WW2 and the “smallest theatre in the world”. The Bloomsbury Group, which according to Dorothy Parker “lived in squares, painted in circles and loved in triangles”, is sure to be mentioned.
