A walk led by Mike Marriott of Camden Tour Guides Association for the Bloomsbury Festival
Bloomsbury developed in the 18th and 19th centuries primarily around a series of squares. Many of the larger squares fronting the main roads are well-known and regularly visited today. But the design also included a number of smaller squares, especially to the west of the great estate. However, many of these were “swallowed up” in the expansion of London University in the 20th century.
We will explore these squares, seeking to understand their history and what can been seen, enjoyed and admired in them today.
